When you're a beginner fly fishing for the first time, one of the most frustrating things can be figuring out how to attach a leader to your fly line. The most widely accepted method is to use a well tied nail knot, but if you're not an experienced knot tier, tying a nail knot isn't the easiest thing in the world. Worse yet, if you don't practice the knot regularly, you may not remember how to do it if you need to make on stream repairs. You can attempt to tie easier knots, but these often leave too big of a bulge where the leader and fly line come together which then gets caught in your guides when you're reeling in a trout, tangles during your back cast, or snags on things in the water. With decades of experience chasing trout around the Pacific Northwest, I have tried many different knots and attached my leaders to my fly line in a variety of ways. My favorite method is one you might not expect. One of the least known, but most effective ways to attach a leader to a fly line is through the use of super glue.
Advantages to this method are that it leaves virtually no bulge at all so it won't catch on the guides or ruin your back cast. Also, tension between the fly line and leader actually creates a "Chinese finger trap" effect that makes the connection strong and durable. I do recommend making a new connection each season, but I've never had any problems attaching my line and leader with this method.
Beginner fly fishing fanatics will appreciate this method because it's easy to do and easy to remember. A small repair kit containing a needle, super glue, and a cigarette lighter can easily be carried in a vest pocket or tackle box so you can do on stream repairs or attach another leader if necessary. Here's how the method works.
First, take a small sewing needle and stick it into the end of the fly line. Try to insert it between 1/4" and 1/2" into the fly line. The purpose of this is to widen the diameter of the fly line so the leader can be pushed inside. To make it easier, use a cigarette lighter underneath the fly line to help it expand. As the line warms, it will expand around the needle, creating a perfect hole for your leader. Just don't get the lighter too close or you'll start the line on fire and melt it. If you do, just trim the melted piece off and start over.
Next, use sandpaper to rough up the end of the leader and put some super glue (I highly recommend you use Zap-A-Gap in the green bottle) around the end of the leader. Roughing up the leader with sandpaper allows a better bond for the glue. Next, slide the leader into the space you just created in the end of the fly line. Hold it there for 30 seconds or so to let the glue dry. Pull the fly line and leader in opposite directions as if you were fighting a fish to make sure the connection holds. If it does, smear a dab of super glue around the outside of the knot for extra holding power. That's all there is to it. After all, even beginners fly fishing for the first time should have a few tricks up their sleeves.

Lures Hook Tackle Best way to clean my tackle boxes?
For the first time I have accumulated a little rust on some of the lures in a few of my plano boxes. Some of my lures have a little rust on the hooks. This is because I may have been a little careless this year in making sure I let them dry out after fishing trips or days in the rain. Now that I've emptied them, is there something specific I should clean the Plano boxes out with? I've wiped them out and soaked them in soapy water. I've heard that the rust can "Hide in the cracks" if you will.
Rust and plastic don't go well, they stain it and removing it is very awkward. There are various things you can try, which have worked in the past for me, try cleaning it with a little alcohol, if that doesn't work spray a small amount of WD-40 onto it and clean with a dry cloth.
If you feel WD-40 is too strong i would really recommend using liquid silicone spray. It doesn't damage plastic, and can be used on electrical components.
Now to stop it forming again, and to help to dry out your box, if you forget and put the lures back wet try these, i have them in most of my bags to keep moisture out.

A fishing leader is a thin piece of metal that has an eye on one end and a pin catch on the other. Really, the game fish at sea can be wily and they can cut a naked line that is not protected by a leader. It would be a shame to lose a catch that way, especially when you have almost succeeded in landing it in the boat.
To make your leader more effective, you should keep the whole assembly as simple as possible. Just attach your hook and your lure to the leader and tie the whole thing to your line. If you hang any more stuff on it, you will only end up scaring the fish away.

i bought some 5/8 oz and 1 oz krocs for SURF FISHING and they dont seem to produce anything... i tried everything there is to it (fast, slow, ripping, etc..) and got mad and bought some other design krocs.. and still nothing ): at the same spot, i threw my Lucky crfts and bam got hit >

The Eastern Shore of Maryland has several fantastic rivers for bass fishing including the Pocomoke, Wicomico, Nanticoke and Choptank Rivers. Anglers fish from private boats or fish with a local guide for largemouth bass and other freshwater fish in these waterways.
The Pocomoke River is one of the most popular fishing locations in Maryland, especially on the Delmarva peninsula. It starts as a small non-tidal stream and meanders down to the Chesapeake Bay. Guides offer fishing and site seeing charters year round on the Pocomoke, even in the winter months. Cold water fishing begins after thanksgiving to around the second week in March and can be surprisingly very good. Largemouth bass are a cold-blooded fish so their body temperature is the same as the water temperature for the most part.
Largemouth bass of the Pocomoke River avoid heavy current and prefer backwater areas where they can suspend and conserve energy in cold conditions. They might only feed a couple of days a week due to their slow metabolism so slower presentations with your baits are critical. Targeting areas like oxbows, marinas, cuts or ponds give winter anglers access to warmer water and low current. Guides focus on local conditions for success. For example, the sun hits the north and northwest shores most on the river in winter so your guide may target these areas looking for warmer water. A water temperature gauge is also useful for winter bass fishing on the Pocomoke. Cool water lures include spin baits, crank baits, jigs and senkos.
The next phase of fishing occurs in late March thru June. This period includes all phases of the spawn. Fishing guides look for spawning areas such as coves, flats and backwater areas. Water temperatures for pre-spawn, spawn and post-spawn can vary greatly, so guides often suggest checking the spawning areas and migration routes leading to and away from them on every trip this time of year. Keep in mind bass prefer a sandy or hard bottom and must have sunlight to aid in hatching the eggs. Hard river bottoms are rare on this river but bass will make due with the best they can find. Productive lures during this period are senkos, tubes, lizards and flukes.
Summer is a favorite fishing season on the Pocomoke River as the fish are very active. The river is tidal which affects where fish congregate. A good low tide is at least three feet down. In summer this river is notorious for only dropping a foot or less and quickly filling back to high tide. Northeast winds usually back up water at the mouth of the river and it’s a good bet the next couple of days after that will be really high tides. Largemouth bass can still be caught by adapting to the conditions. Anglers can find containment areas like bulk heads, walls or high river banks the higher tides cannot get past. This holds the fish in an area you can still access. Also skipping baits like senkos and frogs on the flooded shorelines, creeks and pad fields will still produce. If you are lucky enough to get a good low tide, fish wood close to the channel drops, pad line drops and creeks with jigs, senkos, spinner baits and crank baits.
Fall is another preferred time to fish the Pocomoke River. The bass are not affected as much by cold fronts and very active in feeding up for tough days ahead. This is a great time to run way up the creeks like Nassawango and even further north above the Snow Hill Bridge. An experienced guide will cover lots of water in fall with crank baits, spin baits and buzz baits. Senkos, jigs and worms are always good for the tougher days in fall with high barometric pressures.
