Diawa Fishing Reels Is a Quantum or Diawa fishing rod/reel combo better?
You cannot compare two combos on the basis of brand alone. Some Quantum reels are better that some Daiwa reels - and vice-versa. Every major tackle manufacturer makes a broad range of rods and reels, varying in quality from very inexpensive to very expensive. So, you can't fairly compare a $20 combo from one against a $100 combo from another.
If you compare the same price level rods and reels from various major manufacturers, you're going to find that, qualitywise, they are very similar in both features and quality. When that's the case, it comes down to which particular combo you like for some particular reason.
There are so many different saltwater fishing reels available, how do you know which one to use and when? As you already know different reels are designed to work better in different environments and with different species of fish. Therefore, the first thing you will need to do is determine where you plan on doing your fishing so you can choose the reel that will work the best for that environment.
You will also need to determine which species you are most interested in catching and whether or not you are just fishing for fun or searching for that trophy fish. When choosing your reel take into consideration that over time the saltwater will eat away at the reel so you need equipment that is designed to hold up under these conditions. Here you will find a description of the top 5 saltwater fishing reels along with the pros and cons of each one to help you determine which one would be best for you.
Spinfisher SSm
Pros - This reel was designed to handle the saltwater environment. It is made with a drag knob supported with a stainless steel shaft to prevent it from being damaged by the saltwater. It has a balance rotor that reduces the amount of fatigue the angler feels because it prevents the reel from wobbling which in turn produces a great performance. This makes it easier to handle so you struggle less and exert less energy. It has Penn's Leveline spool-wrap so you can count on the line being flat and level for every retrieval you perform. It has 5 stainless steel ball bearings, full-metal body, infinite anti-reverse and it is also available in three sizes. This one is a great design that provides a smooth performance every time.
Cons - At this time there are no bad points to report about this reel.
Abu Garcia Cardinal C3
Pros - The Abu Garcia Cardinal C3 is a good reel that performs great for any saltwater fishing. It is designed with instant anti-reverse for hook sets, which is a very important feature for the serious angler. Cleaning is a breeze, just remove three screws to clean and oil all the parts. If you do a lot of fishing this is very important to maintain the life of your reel. This reel also has a great "stamina drag system" that can hold up to long hours of hard fishing. The 5ball-bearing design makes retrieval easy and it is a great reel for anyone who enjoys fishing every chance they get.
Cons - The main complaint with this reel is the fact that it provided little in the way of instructions and so it may be difficult for an inexperienced angle to understand exactly how everything should work.
Daiwa BG-15 Spinning Reel
Pros - This spinning reel has a lot to offer with three ball bearings that provide you with smooth action when fishing. It is great for the saltwater because it is designed with a very hard anodized finish that resists corrosion. It is also made with a 5.1 to 1 gear ratio making it perfect for saltwater fishing. You will also enjoy the high performance drag system and durability of the Teflon and stainless steel washers.
Cons - The bad thing about the design of this Daiwa spinning reel is that it does not have a full time anti-reverse and it weighs approximately 12.3 ounces. This will make it more difficult for many anglers to use.

Once you have decided to pursue a hobby of fishing you must do some research into the techniques of fishing and the equipment that is available in the market. To begin with you must determine which kind of fishing rod is best suited for your needs.
There are basically two types of fishing rods among the many available to choose form. These are the detachable rod and the single piece fishing rod.
In the beginning the fishing rods were made from single bamboo or cane pieces that rarely exceeded 12 feet. The more popular fishing rods were 6 feet to 9 feet long. The 12 foot fishing rod facilitated fishermen to reach way out over the water from the side of the lake or river. Shorter rods required one to find a branch that extended over the water in order to reach out to the middle.
As time went by the bamboo rods were refined and the rods were made by fusing three strips of cane or bamboo together with some glue and binding them together with string to produce strength and flexibility. Then in recent times these rods gave way to the modern fiber glass fishing rod that has grown into the most popular fishing rod.
Modern day fishing rods can be dismantled quite easily and quickly into three or more parts to facilitate storage in small areas and are easy to transport as well. These rods are very durable and offer many conveniences to the angler such as easily attaching a different spool along with the appropriate line in just a few minutes. There is no need to carry many fishing rods for different types of fish. One rod can accommodate different fishing techniques and equipment and the length of the rod itself can be easily and quickly adjusted too.
It is best to choose a fiber glass fishing rod when you go out to purchase a rod for yourself. These rods require no maintenance and are very durable. They are suited to all weather conditions. The handles of these rods can be interchanged and they can accommodate fishing reel and tackle for all types of fish.
Fiber glass fishing rods can be either solid or hollow; both are equally durable and attractive to. So, when choosing your fishing rod you must look for a certain amount of flexibility, you do not want the rod to bend excessively nor do you want it to be too rigid. It must also not be made of very brittle material or it will snap under the weight of a large fish.
Your local sports store will be able to advise you on your first purchase, then your experience will guide you further. So get yourself a fishing rod and let nature teach you the rest.

How to decide between light and severe ice fishing fire trucks and spin combo?
We are only starting to want some ice fishing is common in north-west. Michigan?
If you are fishing for pan fish, mostly. light of the serious indeed. If you are a fishing for walleye or some other big game fish you may want to get combo. light. If you receive a special lamp for light combo set. £ 2. Test it and just when you change the wires after pan fish.
i say i use middle range i normally have a simple bank stik and buzzbar with fox micron bite alarms and a bivvie with a daiwa team tackle box and im set you???
hey man, i have a variety of fishing gear. I fish the surf of the atlantic and i fish fresh as well. i have
6- saltwater set ups. 4 are 7 foot rods and 2 are 9 foot. sitting on those rods are spinner reels, mostly shakespear saltwater reels and 2 diawa reels. (i dont spend a pile of money on equipment--no need to actually if the equipment is taken care of) all are spooled with braided spiderwire. 40-50 and 60 lb line
4- freshwater set ups. 3 are shakespear mantis series spinners that i use for light fishing such as brim perch and so forth. 1- shakespear 6'6" ugly stick and sitting on that is a phlugher presidential series spinner reel. the shakespears are spooled with Berkleys Big Game monofiliment line 10 lb test and the phlugher is spooled with stren 14 lb flourocarbon.
I also have 2 deapsea rods that i use when i go after the BIG OL KITTY KITTY fish. i mostly use my saltwater rod and reels but all of them are medium heavy action rods. when i know that there are huge cats in the spots that i swap the reels from the medium heavy action to the heavy action.
i try to have an array of rods and reels for each application that i go. i dont spend a pile of money on my reels and rods because i dont have to. if a person knows how to work the drag and know how to fight a fish with the rod correctly big ol expensive equipment isnt needed. but i dont skimp on the line though. my opinion is that the line is the most important thing there. if the line isnt worth a flip neither is the reel.
for my tackle boxes i actually have 4. i use 4 because i dont like carrying all my gear with me if it will not be needed. the one that i use for bass fishing is a Bill Dance series box. nothing fancy i dont carry alot of gear i stick to the basics. a few plugs, a few cranks, a few jigs, an array of worms. and the basics hooks bullet weight, splitshot weights, and other what nots. i have 2 small boxes by bait box that i use 1 for saltwater surf fishing, i keep my bottom fishing rigs, pliers, pryamid weights, sibinki rigs and other saltwater supplies and for the other bait box i keep my catfish fishing gear. 2 ounce bullet weights, leader material and a few home made leaders and trebble hooks, and other what catfish gear that might be floatin around. and i have a small clear box, (you know the lil cheap ones that most people use as inserts in their fishing Bags. i keep one of those filled for when i go fishing for panfish. i keep jigs, smaller hooks, split shot weight, a few small crank baits, spinners, and bobbers.
well that i believe has summed up most of my fishing gear that i use. good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
So carp fishermen use many static configurations these days you could be forgiven for thinking that the fishing fleet is a big tent lost art, really amazing, because it can be one of the most full of adrenaline from targeting large fish almost never been there!
I have heard many tents bored with the current trend in fisheries static set-ups at extreme distances, in some cases, even a stick, but a ship with Hookbait bait lead transfer to a distant place - it is not surprising that the heart has stopped pumping - that would be enough for me to sleep! All I want to tell these is breaking fishing rod float and enjoy!
As methods go, do not get much easier - just to have a float and a hook! Forget your bite alarms, the sheaths of the stem, the objective of merchants and others - the fishing is good to keep your heart in my mouth when tics float! My fishing floating standard form for carp big up consists of a light carp rod share of about 1.5 pounds to 2 pounds curve test, which provides exciting sport in reading about the fish, along with a great lightweight coil - no need for Big Pit reels or baitrunners - as it has an ease of drag that lets you adjust tension during the battle, he'll do fine. Queue up with a quality monofilament line, my personal choice is Daiwa Sensor. The tensile strength depends water that fish, if it is free of drawbacks, weeds and other hazards that can be used underwater smaller diameter, is between 8 pounds and 10 pounds, or increased up to 12 pounds or more if conditions require.
Encore Once, on a personal level, I like to keep things light as this increases fun to play close to the fish, so most times I use 10 pounds or less. There are a number of tanks available for carp fishing, but to be honest, I have five different types in my tackle box that seems to me to cover all eventualities. To catch a buoyant level in place that I like to use tent weighted float a car, not only saves time when creating, but it means you can change and change easily when faced with a distance different instead of having to remove or apply different plans for the line every time you change the distance and depth.
Like most of my fishing fleet tent is conducted harassment of fashion, quality is never very large distances more likely to just float down the marginal weedbeds rights, lilies or cattails in the margins. As such, I can just throw enough weight to float a few meters if a pre-weighted float is perfect for dusting Hookbait. If you want to attract carp in the fall or if I am fishing for carp Spooky not attach any firing line at all, but if I get the bait on the bottom of the lake, soon I will add an image or a Rig-cement piece about three inches Hookbait to help reach the bottom quickly.
Hook size is critical because it must find the Hookbait hook size. Too many anglers think they need big carp hooks bank, which is simply not the case. The Most of my stalking and fishing area for carp is with hooks in size between 12 and 16, and rarely lose a fish by towing hook! You really do not need a dryer platform, just mount your bait on the hook and voila! Remember to bring a place mat so it can cope with a large fish safely to shore.
These are characteristics Fish evident when the carp can visit and maintain drip loosefeed "a little and often" basis to catch their attention when they go to. My personal preference by the bait is something moving, something that leaves the tent in its tracks when it happens - and as such generally favorable worms or worms.
It really is as simple as that, the adrenaline to see the road before the float rod to bend can not be beat and I can assure you that you'll never be bored again! I put a number of pieces recently about the methods and tactics described above. So why not go out and do the same.

Beginner fly fishers often overwhelmed when dealing with the retail big box, or your favorite online store. Unfortunately, this happens because there are many types of specialized equipment available to fly fishermen and women of today for the novice fisherman can easily be confused with the terminology used.
Fortunately, this guide will help you make the right decision when it is the purchase of equipment for fly fishing news for beginners. While holding these things in mind during you make your purchase, you will give yourself the best chance want to go in the water on a regular basis. Buying a flight suit bad equipped, or even one that is not balanced for the way the fish go or cause to be discouraged, forcing them to seek Other things to do instead of going for the day.
First, you want to look at the materials used for construction stem. To begin, you'll want to stay away from fiberglass, and bamboo, but try to find a bar that is made of graphite. Graphite is very mild, light, and still provides an excellent action to teach Beginners suitable molding techniques.
Then you must look at the coil, and what measures have been involved. You want a single coil steps to ensure you have the less frustration while working his way through the learning curve. The Beginners have a lot more using an easy to share a single coil of a multiplier reel. For this reason, you want to double check the type of coil before buying.
Finally, you want to check to ensure that the line includes dual corner. Double clean lines have a small sail that the weight forward, and are therefore very suitable for beginners. Save money in your line of flight is strongly discouraged, as the purchase of a line tapered double means that when one end is cracked and worn, may decelerate in line, turn, and basically an entirely new range of flying. Because the line is the most important part of your team, you want to make sure the hardware you buy has a high quality, slim line double.
When it comes time to buying a new fly fishing outfit, you are going to want to keep these few things in mind. As long as you make sure that you are purchasing a graphite rod, a single action reel, and a double tapered fly line, you will have the best beginners fly fishing outfit without spending all of your hard earned money. Until next time, tight lines!
Indeed, there are really only three things (other than fish and water), absolutely necessary to go fishing. First item needed is a rod (A Complete set can be purchased for as little as $ 20). The second is the need for some sort of bait and third, a fishing license.
However, for those who want the best of their fishing experience initial, there are other elements that can help make that first time, all the better. So to help prepare, they are listed below.
Rod and reel
As mentioned earlier, a core rod and reel set may be purchased for less than $ 20. A starting combo contains the stem and pre-spool queue dial. They are strong enough to catch catfish, Striper, and fish game of any kind.
Bait: Worms, leeches and other
While a Norman Rockwell picture of the collection of bait would Fuzzies hot, in fact, trying to gather enough large worms for fishing takes time and not really worth when the worms can be collected from a bait dealer for only a few dollars a dozen.
Crayfish, minnows and leeches are other common forms of bait for freshwater fishing. The biggest drawback of these four types of baits, that they are still alive when put on the hook and must be hooked so to keep them alive and struggling for so long as possible to attract fish.
If the novice fisherman to imagine that this could cause scruples, is a good time for consider using some sort of delusion, instead of fresh bait. Lures cost a little more money initially but can be used to repeatedly.
Instead Lures Bait
There are four main types of fishing lures Freshwater: plugs, spinners and spoons, jigs and soft plastics, finally. For the novice fisherman, the soft plastic will do well. They are made to imitate fish and other aquatic bait. The baits are attracted to water in an attempt to mimic the natural movement of the creature mimics the soft plastic, like a shrimp, baitfish or crawdad.
Fishing licenses
Sure to pick up a fishing license for the state in which you intend to fish. These can be obtained in most stores sports stores of weapons, department stores, discount stores, bait and tackle shops, grocery stores, and many other types stores, and online. A license can cost about $ 30 per year and $ 10 for one day. The small fee is much better than being fined $ 100 or more for fishing without a license.
Tackle Box
All it takes is a drop in weight, hook or plug in water once or twice to learn that some type of carrying case is a necessity. Since brackets are rusting, keeping them dry is important, another reason for a tackle box of some kind. It is also the best place to keep the fishing license, as it will go where the fishing happens if stored in the box.
Different fish like different types of baits and worms buying becomes expensive after a while, so it is prudent to assume that some varieties of lures will be purchased very early on. Keeping them separate fisheries will experience much more enjoyable.
Know a few nodes
As with everything, there is a good way to make knots and a wrong way. In the bad direction could lead hooks lost or, worse yet, fish. The Clinch knot is the knot fishing town and the best way to link the swivels and hooks line.
Protection against the sun
Two factors make it doubly important to wear a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen while fishing. The first is water, which reflects the sunlight in all directions and can magnify the sun touches, and sunburn. The second is the amount of time that tends to escape while he was sitting in a boat on a beautiful lake. It can be very easy to let the hours pass, and even on cloudy days, harmful rays are wrong can cause damage the sun and causing eyestrain.
Bobbers
A bobber can make the difference between spending Day in the boat and catch fish for the novice. Since it is important to get the fish to "take the hook," it is essential know when they are snacking. Having a float, and keeping an eye on him, is the best way to learn to feel the nibble and the time to give a little tugboat on the Flax. The best place to bouchon is located about two feet from the hook.
Sinkers
When using worms or bait other lightweight, extra weight is needed on the line or it will simply float on the water surface. The weights come in a variety of thicknesses and materials. A ballast metal is easier to put on the line as is needed is a slight pressure. Trial and error will help to find what weights work best and how many are needed.

Old Fishing Reels What is the oldest zebco or southbend fishing gear do you have?
I have a 5 year old zebco slingshot 202 ,4 year old light action storm fishing combo, and 8 year old southbend fishing rod and reel.
I've still got my old Zebco 202 that I got when I was a kid. I even use it sometimes when I am using multiple poles. Let's see, it's about 25 years old now and still going strong, well... it might have one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel... but it's still very, very usable (and user friendly). My neice (age 3) will go with me sometimes and use it. Fun question!
