What is a good saltwater fish to keep in an aquarium with a clownfish, royalgramma basslet, and 6 line wrasse?
I have a new saltwater tank and we want some really cool fish to put in the tank. We already have 2 clownfish, a royal gramma basslet, and a six line wrasse. Is there any other really pretty and colorful fish that would do well with the aforementioned fish?
since we don't know the size of your tank I will just throw out some fish that will work well with the fish you have (but might not be okay with the size of your tank)
a coral beauty or flame angel or really almost any dwarf angel will do well. a flame or longnosed hawkfish would be a great addition. I would not recommend most dartfish, blenny, or goby just because the six line has been know to terrorize gobys and blennys
the only gobies I can think of that might do okay are the watchman gobies and the only blennies would be the midas blenny.
if your tank is 30 gallons or less you are fully stocked already

The term "Old Time Radio" refers to the entertainment programs that were broadcast to the public from the early 1920s to the early 1960s. In the beginning, most radio programs emulated the vaudeville acts that were the mainstay of public amusement before radio. Comics and singers ruled the airwaves! Best of all, you no longer had to leave your home to enjoy their talents! Eventually, however, audiences matured and other types of programs were added to the radio schedule. Drama series became extremely popular including shows about doctors, soap operas, and even movie scripts that were adapted for radio. Action series brought cops, robbers, private detectives, and westerns into the home! Fantasy series thrilled audiences with well known characters including Superman and the Green Hornet! Horror fans got their share of ghosts, vampires, and werewolves. Those who craved science fiction got their weekly craving for tales of the future, space travel, and exploration of the unknown. Game shows like "You Bet Your Life" gave the average person an escape from everyday life!
The first commercial radio station in the U.S. (KDKA in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) began occasional broadcasting in 1920. By 1922, the first regularly broadcast old time radio shows had begun. Up until the late 1920s, musical programs were most popular with shows highlighting opera, big bands, jazz, classical, and popular music.
In the 1930s, the first daytime series appeared featuring romance and other subject matter that appealed to the typical American housewife. Most of those programs were sponsored by soap products and that's where the term "Soap Opera" originated. Radio shows like "The Cisco Kid" and "Captain Midnight" were broadcast in the afternoons for the entertainment of young people as they returned home from school. Comedy series began to appear including the "George Burns and Gracie Allen Show" and the "Jack Benny Show" which both began in 1932. "Amos 'N Andy" actually hit the airwaves in 1928! Then in the early 1940s, a nearly never-ending list of comedy programs joined those pioneers and comedy shows became the most prolific genre through the end of Old Time Radio.
By 1947, 82% of people in the U.S. listened to the radio on a regular basis. The Old Time Radio shows were not like most audio books of today where someone with a pleasant voice reads you a book. Old Time Radio shows were productions just like the television programs of today. There were sound effects, multiple actors in multiple roles, and first rate scripts! Many people today are shocked at how entertaining they can be when they hear their first Old Time Radio program. The lack of video can actually be a plus! Your mind often imagines the characters and scenery much better than seeing those things on a television screen.
Most Old Time Radio Shows were aired live up until the late 1940s. Therefore, the most popular shows had to be performed twice due to the time difference between the east coast and the west coast. Most of those programs are lost to us today as they were generally not recorded. There are exceptions where and advertiser wanted copies of their programs or for some programs that aired in syndication. Thankfully, by the early 1950s, many programs were broadcast live on the east coast and recorded for later broadcast on the west coast. A surprisingly large number of those recordings are still in existence today thanks, mostly, to collector/hobbyists who acquired them through the years. Due to their age, most of those are available free of charge on the web or at very low cost on cd (in mp3 format) from numerous vendors.
In the mid 1950s TV was becoming the king of entertainment and radio was transforming into a mostly musical format. There were shows, however, that continued for a few more years and some of them even aired at the same time as a TV version of the same program.

The law were later introduced to other parts of Europe, including England and France. we have to separate iron filings, salt, sawdust and sand using only these tools:
bunsen burner, rubber tubing, evaporating dish, beakers, filter paper, funnle, watch glass, scoopula, forceps, glass stirring rod, distilled water, wash bottle, magnet, tape, scale, wire gauze, ring stand, and zip lock bags.
we have to write a procedure for this lab.
any help is appreciated!
use the magnet to attract the iron filings.
after you got those out, drown the entire mixture in water and drain it through the wire gauze. this should separate out the sawdust (if it doesn't, i'm sorry, you'll have to figure out some other way). Then, stir to make sure the salt is dissolved. pour out the water part and let it evaporate. when the water evaporates, all that's left is the salt.
As for the non-water part left, that's the sand.
Hope that helps!

Forceps are hand-held instruments used for grasping and holding the objects. They are similar to tweezers and tongs and can be longer or smaller in size. There are more than 700 types, which are used as per the need of the situation. Usually, they are used when singleton fetus in cephalic position fails to develop. Another condition can be when the delivery is required to be done at its second stage.
It is used for the surgery or for medical procedures are known as surgical forceps. They are mainly used during the delivery of the child. There blades are made of rigid material and their contact surface helps in grasping the baby’s head.
It can be used for grasping dressings, needles or handling tissues. For handling tissues they have small teeth on their tips so that they do not have to apply pressure while handling. The dressing instruments are larger and look very much like tongs. There are four main components of forceps:
1. Blades: This oval and elliptical blade helps in grasping fetus.
2. Handles: The person operating holds the instrument through the handles and applies traction to the fetal head.
3. Lock: There are different types of locks available and are used as an articulation between the shanks.
4. Shanks: Shanks are either parallel or crossed for connecting the blades to the handles.
Forceps delivery is dependent on the level and the position of the head in the birth canal. According to the gynecologists, they are classified into low, mid and high forceps. The low forceps are applied only when the fetal scalp is visible and has reached the pelvic floor. The mid forceps can be used at many points of fetal head.
It is very important to understand when to use forceps so as to avoid any complications.
The cervix must be fully dilated and retracted.
The operator should know the Pelvis category.
The head must be engaged.
The membrane should be ripped apart.
The operator should be competent and should not use aggressively forceps and vacuum.
There should be adequate facilities and support available for the patient convenience.
Forceps surgery is an alternative to caesarean delivery. It can be done even when then the baby is not in the right position but not in the condition when the head of the baby is towards the vaginal canal. There are many negative aspects it. Yes, it can cause mild to severe metal retardation, skull fractures or even nerves can be damaged. If there are both positive and negative aspects then sufficient thought and care should be taken before using the forceps.

2 and 3 are the same reel.
#2 or 3 would probably be your best bet given the selection. It's a basic aluminum frame reel. The design has been around forever. South Bend is not known for the best quality, but there's not to much to mess up on this type of reel.
#1 is a graphite frame reel. The tolerances in these is not always too good. In a 7/8 weight it could make a big difference in how smooth the reel operates. I wouldn't buy it. Maybe a 3/4 wt for panfish where the reel will only be holding the line, but that's about it.
#4 Stay Away! I know this company. This one looks much better than it really is.
How many presents for christmas are too much for a 6 year old?
Got him a game for gamecube, DVD, toy fish tank, coloring book, crayons, markers, 2 books to read, toothbrush, toothpaste, gumball machine, extra gumballs, lifesavers x-mas pack, puzzle, 3 brainteaser puzzles, alarm clock, camera, handheld electronic game, and a flshlight. Is that overdoing it? His older stepbrother, 15 yrs old, is getting a new computer and a cell phone. Is that all right? I worry that the 15 year old will feel a bit jealous because the 6 yr old got more to open than he did. Its our first x-mas together as a family and I'm kinda worried that the 15 yr old won't feel comfortable, after all, before I met his Dad he was an only child and it must be weird to hear another little kid calling his Dad Daddy. Or am I worrying over nothing?
It's not overdoing it! That's perfect!!! Give yourself some credit mom! You did well. Your child is going to have a great Christmas but not a completely spoiled one! As for the 15 year old, he has very expensive gifts so he should understand why his doesn't match the 6 year olds quantity.
The Lowrance X136 DF Pro-Grade Sonar is a top notch fish finder. Its dual frequency transducer, with depth penetration up to 2500 feet and sturdy waterproof casing, makes it an excellent choice for saltwater fishing or down rigger tracking. It is sturdy enough to stand up to the saltwater elements and allows you to see to deep depths. Its 16 level gray scale monitor also allows for easy sonar reading and will greatly assist in locating and identifying fish.
The Lowrance X136 DF fish finder also comes standard with ASP (Advanced Signal Processing) and depth alarms. ASP allows the fisherman to filter out noise interference from avenues such as boat speed, water conditions, air bubbles and even vibration from the engine. The filtering lets you see the fish clearly so that you can use your skill to catch them. The built in depth alarms allow you to focus on fishing rather than worrying about whether you are too shallow or even too deep. The depth alarms are easy to set and use. Simply set a shallow alarm for whatever depth you feel is too shallow- even as shallow as 5 or 10 feet. On the other end set the deep alarm to what is too deep for you- maybe the fish finder’s maximum depth penetration of 2500 feet. Now let the fish finder do the work for you. If the depth of the water is ever outside the ranges you have set, the alarm will sound and you can quickly and easily make adjustments.
The Lowrance X136 has many other great features which are detailed in the owner’s manual which comes standard with every unit purchased. This model will truly make it easy for any fisherman to find fish and focus solely on their skills for catching the fish.
Lowrance X136 DF Tip
Many Lowrance fish finders come standard with a patented Fish Symbol system called Fish I.D. The Fish I.D system is an excellent way for novice fish" target="_blank">www.fishfindersdirect.com">fish finder users to recognize fish-like signal returns on the sonar display. However, Fish I.D. does have its limitations. The microprocessor in the system can be fooled by other submerged objects and report them as fish. Once you become comfortable with your new fish finder it is recommended that you use Full Sonar Mode and learn how to interpret fish arches effectively. Even after you are an expert at fish arches though, you may want to use Fish I.D. when you are in another part of the boat of working with something that keeps you from watching the screen. In these situations using the Fish I.D. functionality can be very useful as it comes with audible fish alarms. By using the fish alarms you will know when a fish passes under the boat by the noise emitted from your Lowrance fish finder.
Can someone help me come up with a catchy name for my Granddaughter and Son's team fishing name ?
My Son and his Daughter fish together in youth bass fishing tournaments. He is 30 and she is 7. His name is Andy and hers is Kylee. The last name is Miles. Alot of the fishing teams use their last name - such as Team Walling or Team Smith. I am trying to come up with something unique to have embroidered on their fishing shirts. Can someone help me with a few suggestions? Wanting to surprise them before next tournament.
miles of fish
Firstly, I have to admit my ignorance, when I was told that there were Barramundi in Thailand I was very surprised. Thinking they were only native to Australia, it was pointed out to me that these fish in fact populate many freshwater lakes throughout Asia. So I went along to Bor Num Lake with a friend of mine (John); who is also a keen angler and has been living in Bangkok for over thirteen years.
The lake is actually called Bor Num Barramundi fishing park, and the ticket for the day cost 100 Thai baht (approx 2 British pounds or 3 US dollars), excellent value for money. It is possible to hire spinning rods and tackle for an additional 100 baht per person. Bor Num Lake also offers the chance to try your hand at fly fishing; the price is the same which ever code of fishing is chosen. It was suggested to us that we use lures when fishing for the barramundi, we were in total agreement -lure fishing always appeals- as the action and excitement is second to none when fishing for predators using this system.
It turns out that fishing for barramundi is extremely popular amongst Thais, especially at the weekends where many come to enjoy the fishing activities. Though catching and eating your quarry is something that has never appealed to me, many anglers here, Thais and foreigners alike do. You can enjoy these fish in the restaurant for -an additional cost- if you so wish, the fish is prepared by the local chefs to your taste (the lake is frequently stocked, to counter the fish taken for the pot). You can always put the fish back if this is not your bag.
There is not much protection from the sun here, so one must stay well covered up as the sun will easily nuke the skin, even sun block struggles to keep the rays at bay. So a good hat and a long sleeved shirt are the order of the day.
The staff were very friendly giving us plenty of tips and advice, without which I feel we may have struggle to catch; when fishing here one needs to use different techniques than when at home fishing.
The Barramundi have been farmed commercially in lakes here in Thailand for over twenty years, they are extremely aggressive hunters and when hooked give one serious fight. Usually clearing the water with energetically charged leaps, which causes large splashes as they land again, bringing the angler much approved applause and cheer from the local observers.
We found that poppers with a fly attached to a 30lb leader proved to be the most successful lures (as recommended by the guide). Barramundi have a sharp gill plate and the larger fish can cut through 40lb Fluorocarbon shock leader in one swipe. We used bait casting rods 6 feet in length and bait casting reels which are used specifically for lure fishing (they look very much like multiplying reels).
The lake is not a fish farm and it is quite easy to blank here if the wrong methods are used, but if you get it right a fantastic day will be had. The fish do vary in size form 1kg (2.2lb) up to and beyond 10kg (22lbs).
Unbelievably the first cast of the day resulted in John hitting into a monster, with in seconds this Barramundi leapt clear of the water creating much excitement in the camp (the guide pointing out that when the fish breaches the water, it is best to lower the tip of the rod, so as not to give the fish too much chance of shedding the hook) John then proceeded to wrestle for a further five minutes with his quarry, again the magnificent barramundi cleared the water several more times before finally subduing to the net. A 4.8kg fish on the first cast and about twenty more in total, not bad at all for a couple of beginners.
A few tips:-
It is debatable whether to use a tour company or not. If you are confident of finding your way and have your own transport then it is not essential to pay the extra for a tour company. The staff at Born Num is very experienced and probably knows more about their water than the guides from agencies.
If live bait fishing you must buy out the fish, you can not catch and release when live baiting due to the almost guaranteed take.
A small tip is appreciated but not compulsory for the guides at Bor Num – we gave B100 tip for good service all day
The guides are kept very bust usually looking after 5 or 6 anglers at a time.
Food and drinks are ordered via the guide, so you do not have to leave the waters edge.
Toilets are not European Style, but clean.
There is a very friendly atmosphere and the local fishermen are only too willing to help, giving friendly advice and tips without being too intrusive.
So all in all a fantastic day was had by all and we became hooked ourselves and will certainly be returning to Bor Num very soon.
